If you can breathe, you can do this series. Join Mukunda Stiles (author
of Structural Yoga Therapy) as you move each joint gently and systematically
through its full and natural range of motion. You’ll begin by
learning to breathe fully with the wave breath and intercostal breathing.
In the 22 movements that follow, you will explore and expand your
ability to move your toes, ankles, knees, hips, torso, spine and neck
ending with a relaxation pose. If you are unable to do certain movements,
you are encouraged to breathe fully visualizing your body moving.
• Increase Strength and
Flexibility
• Enhance Joint Mobility
• Relieve Joint Pain and Stiffness
• Boost the Immune System
• Recommended for use in hospitals and nursing homes
• Gentle Yoga for All Ages and All Conditions
• Great for Relieving Stress of Care Givers
For chronic health conditions this yoga series is so gentle you
can benefit from practicing it when you are not feeling well. Your
own natural flow of healing energy and immune system will be greatly
enhanced; emotionally you will feel stronger with a sense of well
being. Often when one part of the body is experiencing difficulties
we are reluctant to move the rest of the body or even to breathe
fully – this does not help with the healing process. Moving
gently with the energy of your breath brings harmony to your mind
and body.
“Mukunda Stiles is the finest
yoga therapist I’ve ever worked with.
Now the wealth of wisdom and experience that he brought to teaching
me, my staff, and many of our clients, is available to you in video
form.”
- Joan Borysenko, PH.D., author of Minding the Body,
Mending the Mind, also co-founder of the Mind Body Medical Institute,
Harvard Medical School
This series is a must for anyone with arthritis or joint stiffness.
By taking each joint through its range of motion joint mobility is
increased which lessens joint pain and stiffness. Movement is essential
for joint suppleness and for the lubrication of synovial fluid within
the joint. Moving each joint regularly improves strength and helps
to minimize tight or weak muscles; tension that is stored in the muscles
around each joint is slowly relaxed. This creates a channel of release
for mental and emotional tension that has become stored in the body.
Vascular circulation is improved helping to alleviate the many problems
associated with poor circulation. If practiced routinely in health
care settings patients can be helped to feel better leading to shorter
hospital stays and a more efficient use of health care resources.
“I found Mukunda's Yoga in
Health Care video to be very approachable
and friendly for those with limited mobility due to arthritis, inhuries,
pain,
or hospitalization. I feel it is perfect for Yoga Therapy in medical
environments.”
-
